The Church Centre is 25 years old. Little work has been undertaken to it since it was built as the first major project integrating the Anglican and Methodist congregations.
To celebrate this anniversary and to bring the Church Centre up to date a major refurbishment plan has been put in place and plans can be seen in the Church Centre foyer. Plans include:
Replacement of louvred ceiling blinds in the main hall
Refurbishment of Parish Office including relocation of door for ease of access and improved security
Improvements to foyer including lighting and decor
Extension and refitting of kitchen
This work is not cheap, but if the function of the Church Centre is to continue in its present form, and increase, then it is essential that it looks the part and complies with all current legislation. The United Church Council has agreed to fund a substantial part of the work out of reserves, but it will still be necessary to raise some £50,000 from other sources.
As you will already have guessed, these other sources tend to be the congregation and its friends, families, businesses and colleagues through fundraising. For no other reason than I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, I have been volunteered to lead this campaign, but I am relying on YOU to make this easy and for us all to have fun in the process.
The really easy way is for you all to give me the money immediately. This would be great and will be encouraged, but does take some of the fun out of the exercise.
So, the HELP I need from you now is ideas for fundraising events and people to run them. If you have ideas (you do not have to be able to run them) they would be welcome. If you have no ideas, but are happy to help, that is just as valuable. If you have ideas and can help you are close to perfect!
Please contact me with your ideas and offers and we can then get together to produce a programme to ensure that the full refurbishment of the Church Centre can proceed to secure its future in our community.
