It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edward Jones, aged 17, in a tragic accident on Monday 23rd July 2007.
Edward was on a Club 18-30 holiday on the Greek island of Zante with two friends, celebrating the end of their A' level studies.
That evening, the three friends had just left a bar, when Edward grabbed hold of both a road sign and a neighbouring lamppost. The lamppost was live and he immediately received a fatal electric shock.
There were many people around at the time, some of whom were first-aiders, but attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
Edward will be sorely missed by his family and his friends. He had achieved high academic success at Watford Grammar School for Boys and was planning to read Mathematics at Warwick University later this year.
Edward was a gifted violinist working towards his grade eight exam. He was fit and active, a member of the Three Rivers Amateur Swimming Club and the Rickmansworth Tae Kwon Do School. He had recently been preparing to take his black belt grade in Tae Kwon Do.
He was well known in local community, working in Clarks shoe shop in Rickmansworth High Street and also a member of the St Mary's bellringers.
We send our sincere condolences to Edward's parents, Kevin & Penny, his sister, Olivia, and his grandparents Graham & Diana and Howard & Pat.
Edward's funeral service will be held on Tuesday 7th August in church at 11.00 am. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to the Watford Fuller Foundation. All enquiries to James Peddle Ltd (01923 772013).
