Farewell to Chris Jones as he retires

On Sunday 20th July we were sad to say 'goodbye' to Rev Chris Jones who is retiring (known as 'sitting down' in the Methodist Church) and moving to Salisbury. Chris was Superintendent of the Watford Circuit for a number of years and very much involved with all aspects of life and worship at St Mary's. His support for the church, particularly during the Vacancy last year, was much appreciated. In retirement, Chris is taking on an allotment and, with this in mind, we presented him with a selection of gardening tools as well as a bird 'feeding station' (better known as a bird table). Chris' wife, Margaret, accompanied him on his last visit to St Mary's and we were able to bid our farewells to her also. Margaret has also given immense support to St Mary's over the years and was a popular visiting preacher during the Vacancy. She is not retiring completely (yet). We wish Chris and Margaret every happiness and blessing in their new home. We also send our best wishes and congratulations on their forthcoming Ruby Wedding Anniversary next week! |
