One of our gifts to Anne was an icon of St Raphael, also known as the 'Healing Angel'

It was the Feast of Pentecost and Anne presented members of Junior Church with red balloons.

Sunday 31st May was a sad day for St Mary's as we marked the retirement of the Revd Dr Anne Shaw, our Assistant Priest for some 25 years.

Anne arrived in Rickmansworth as a Deaconess, becoming a Deacon and finally being one of the first women to be ordained Priest at St Albans Abbey in 1994.

Her ministry at St Mary's has been widespread, playing a full role in pastoral care and, of course, in our worship.

Particularly special to Anne's time at St Mary's has been the Healing Ministry which has flourished under her care. This has been a constant theme for Anne, urging us to see healing as far wider than cure but to do with the wholeness of being.

Anne looked after the congregation through three Vacancies - she has definitely earned her retirement!

Anne and her husband, Don, were consummate hosts and we enjoyed many parties and barbecues at their home. They have a beautiful garden so Anne should now have a little more time to enjoy it.

Anne, we wish you and Don many happy years, enjoying your family and particularly all your grandchildren. We thank you for everything you have done for St Mary's - we will miss you very much.

After presiding and preaching at our Eucharist service, we enjoyed a party in the Church Centre.

It was good to catch up with old friends who had returned to St Mary's for this special occasion.
