We welcome everyone to St Mary’s at any time and especially during Lent, Holy Week and Easter.

The period of Lent lasts for 40 days, from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday. It is a time when Christians reflect and prepare for Easter.

Please come and join us as we journey towards the most special and significant event in the Christian calendar.

Lenten Observance leaflet

Pick up a copy of the Lenten Observance leaflet which has a host of suggestions for reading matter, prayer and practical action to assist in keeping a ‘good and holy Lent’. These are available at the back of church.

Lenten Tree

During Lent, different signs and symbols of both the journey through Lent and of the Passion of Christ will be placed at the foot of the Lenten Tree.

The tree is made from a Christmas tree we had in church last Christmas, linking in both observance and prayer the incarnation of Christ with his suffering and death.

The Stations of the Cross

The readings associated with the Stations will be available for people to walk our Stations during the week. Many find this practice a positive and moving addition to their spiritual devotions through Lent and Holy Week.
