Lent leads us towards the cross and, as the season begins, we are marked with the cross with which we were signed at our baptism, a reminder of both death to life and life in death. The ash is made by burning the palm crosses which were blessed on Palm Sunday last year.
The Vicar, Revd Gary Norman, will be leading a weekly evening prayer meeting on Wednesdays in church from 7.30-8.30pm (approx). This will be an opportunity to explore, learn and practise the ancient Benedictine contemplative prayer of Lectio Divina. The evening will close with compline.
This group will also be invited to consider an ongoing commitment to meeting and praying together once a month, prayerfully to explore and discern our future mission and outreach.

Easter Pilgrimage to St. Albans
Keen walkers leave from St Mary’s at 8.30am (approx) to get to St Albans, often meeting other pilgrims on the way. Others can catch a lift later to gather for the celebrations at the Abbey from 2.00pm.
This Lent, we are supporting WaterAid to provide clean water in areas of the world where a lack of water and good hygiene are putting people at risk.
