15 Organ

After more than 20 years as our organist at St Mary’s, our wonderful organist and his family are moving to pastures new. We will miss Andrew and Ann hugely and wish them well in their new home.

As a result, we are now looking for an enthusiastic and experienced organist to join us and lead the music which is such an important part of our worship. The ideal candidate will play at our 10.00am service each Sunday as well as occasional services including Easter, Christmas and civic services.

We are a welcoming and friendly congregation who appreciates beautiful music. We recently appointed a new Vicar and our organist will have the opportunity to explore with him and contribute to a wide range of traditional and contemporary worship.

We have a small choir and would love to attract some younger singers to help us grow our musical offering. There is scope for the role to be extended to include the role of Director of Music (with commensurate remuneration) for the right candidate.

The initial salary will be £10,000 pa (including travel expenses). Fees for weddings and funerals are in addition to this.

St Mary’s is an equal opportunities employer with a commitment to safeguarding the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.

To apply for this exciting post

Please send details of your playing experience and any information you believe to be relevant to support your application to the Vicar, Revd Gary Norman.

As part of the interview process you will be asked to play a piece of organ music of your choosing and a hymn (the Vicar will tell you in advance which one) when you will accompany a small group of singers.

The closing date for applications is 25 April 2024.
