Fonts are sacred bowls that are used to hold water used for baptising (christening) people when they become members of the Christian Church.
They are usually near the entrance of the church building as they mark the entering in, or start, of a person’s journey of faith.
Fonts symbolise new beginnings and fresh starts.
The eight sides of the bowl represent the resurrection of Jesus, and of new creation on the eighth day.
You are invited to sit or stand here and think of your own life’s journey.
Is there any part of your life in which you would like to make a fresh start or new beginning?
Perhaps you would like to pray to God about this by simply thinking of where you would like to start again and asking Him to help you?
Or you can use these words…
Loving God
Take from me those things I need to carry no longer,
and set me free to begin again.
Bring me new hope and a brighter future.
Fill me with your life and guide me on the way ahead.
