The Stations of the Cross are a series of 14 pictures that depict the final moments of Jesus’ life as he carried his cross to Calvary to be crucified.
The Stations are used throughout the world by Christians of all traditions in services of prayer and meditation.
We use them to remind ourselves of the sacrifice Jesus made, and of his unwavering love and forgiveness, despite the inhumanity and cruelty showed to him.
The stations are another way of drawing closer to Jesus in our lives by walking with him.
In this the ninth station, Jesus has fallen for the third time. He is exhausted. He is almost broken. The weight of the burden he carries is crushing his spirit
And yet still, somehow, he finds the strength to carry on, in the name of love.
You are invited to sit near this station for a little time, to think and pray. Perhaps you can remember a time or times when you felt exhausted with the weight of your own burdens. Perhaps you can surrender these moments to loving God that Jesus revealed. Or perhaps you could simply ask God for strength in something you are facing now.
If you leave your name on our prayer board, we will pray for you.
